We understand that these are very different, challenging and uncertain times for everyone. We appreciate all that you do for hockey and the players you coach and hope that you can stay healthy and safe. We will all get through this together.
Yours in hockey,
USA Hockey’s Coaching Education Program
Reading and learning are great ways to gain knowledge and information. Right now coaches can gain knowledge by completing their Online Modules and get a head start on the upcoming season. You can also go online to complete your USA Hockey Member Registration for the 2021-22 season.

*****Also check out USA Hockey's YouTube Channel for lots of information and recent "Coaching Webinar Series" under videos.
This is a must for all coaches coaching in Maine --- All Maine coaches must complete their Back Ground Check / Screening and SafeSport before going on the ice. The appropriate Age Module needs to be completed before a coach can be placed on a team roster!!!!
Links to these sites can be found on the Coaching Requirements page.
Please go to the USA Hockey site and log-in and then clinic catalog to register for a coaching clinic.
Most of the clinics are being presented virtually for the 2021-22 season. Please remember that if you are coaching a split season team you must complete your clinic before Oct. 31, 2021 (if possible) and for all other coaches before December 31, 2021. As a coach you may attend any of the virtual clinics so choose the one that best fits for you. Just be mindful of the time zone!

“Coaching Helper”
1.This has been approved in the New England District for use in Learn-to-Skate/Play programs ONLY. This is not for use in 8U through 18U teams or for girls teams of any age.
2.The helper MUST register with USA Hockey as a Coach. Registration as a coach ensures that the individual is properly insured to be on the ice with our participants.
3.They MUST complete a background check through the MEAHA website.
4.They MUST complete their SafeSport module.
5.They MUST ALWAYS have a properly certified coach on the ice with them!
Remember, this program is to assist associations with getting more people to “help” in your LTS programs so that kids are having an enjoyable experience and they return again and again each week!
Try Coaching for “Free” for a Year
** A coach that is just starting in the USA Hockey Coaching program can try coaching for “free” for one year.
**This is only for the 6U, 8U and Learn to Skate level.
**The coach must complete:
o SafeSport
o Age-Specific Module (8U)
o Have a Background Check
**It is up to the Association to monitor this situation.
**If the coach decides to continue coaching the next year they must follow the Coaching Education Program. That is, take a Level 1 Clinic and whatever Age-Specific Module not completed. The Association must make sure the coach follows the Guidelines listed above.
